Parkland Ice Hockey won their Championship Game against Northampton on Wednesday, February 26.

The game kept everyone on the edge of their seats, especially in the third period, when Northampton scored with 26 seconds left, tying the game 2-2.

“Everyone’s stomachs just dropped,” describes hockey player Larissa Schwartz, “it was going to go into sudden death overtime.”

Soon after going into overtime, senior Evan Marrone made the game-winning shot into the Northampton net, making the final score 3-2.

The three players who scored during the game include Alex Doe, Eric Dennis, and Evan Marrone.

“I think in the last few weeks leading up to the playoffs, the team really worked on cohesion,” said Larissa about the team’s work leading up to championships, “Relying on your teammates more instead of playing an individual game is what overall helped us bring the cup home.”
