Your 2020 Scholarship To-Do List
Paying for college is one of the many difficulties high school seniors will have to face during the college application season. However, there are many ways to alleviate the stress of paying, such as scholarships. From Niche’s monthly scholarships to larger scholarships ranging from $15,000 to $100,000, there are a vast amount of ways to earn money for college.
- Regeneron $250,000 Science Talent Search Scholarship (Deadline: November 12th, 2020)- Annually about 1,800 students apply for this historical science project with 300 students recognized and 40 finalists who are invited to Washington D.C. It’s essentially a science fair that also includes various types of science ranging from computer science to psychology, and mathematics.
- College Board’s $40,000 Scholarship (https://opportunity.collegeboard.org/home ) – By completing six actions you can earn from $1,000 to $40,000 just by applying to college. (1. Build Your College List- $500 2. Practice for the SAT- $1,000 3. Improve Your SAT Score- $1,000 4. Strengthen Your College List- $500 5. Complete the FAFSA- $1,000 6. Apply to College- $1,000 Complete Your Journey- $40,000)
- Dell Scholar’s Program (https://www.dellscholars.org/) (Deadline: December 1st, 2020)- This is a $20,000 scholarship rewards low-income students in grades 11 and 12 who earn a minimum of a 2.4 GPA and demonstrate financial need. To apply you need to complete an online application.
- $10,000 Create Real Impact Contest (https://createrealimpact.com/) (Deadline: November 12th, 2020)- It is a scholarship contest that has you submit one project from one of the categories: writing, video, graphic design, or web design that provides a solution to drunk and reckless driving. There are four winners for whichever submission receives the most votes.
- National Space Club $10,000 Keynote Scholarships (https://www.spaceclub.org/scholarship/index.html) (Deadline: December 2nd, 2020)– This scholarship allows students to give the keynote address at the National Space Club and Foundation’s annual Goddard Memorial Dinner. To be chosen, you must be a high school senior who plans to pursue a career in science, technology, mathematics, or engineering and be skilled in public speaking.
- Scholarship Points $10,000 Giveaway
- The Wyland Foundation $1,500 Art Challenge (https://wylandfoundation.org/programs/wyland-national-art-challenge/) (Deadline: December 1st, 2020) – This challenge asks that you think about conservation issues faced around the world and interpret them through art. This is open to both high school juniors and seniors.
- Scholarships.Com- This is a great website to find a vast variety of different scholarships with some requiring an essay and others only requiring a few clicks of your keyboard.
- Teen Changemakers $1,000 Essay Contest- This contest asks students to create a campaign or program with an essay being 500 to 1,000 words long explaining how you would support students’ mental health. Applicants can be in 9th to 12th grade.
- Cappex Monthly $1,000 Scholarship- This scholarship occurs monthly and only requires that you sign up for an account
- CollegeXpress $1,000 What Are You Thankful For Scholarship Contest (Deadline: November 30th, 2020)- This only requires that you fill out a registration form and answer the question “What are you thankful for?”
- Niche $1,000 and $2,000 Scholarships- Both require that you only register for a Niche account.
