The NFL approved a new playoff format back in March, adding an extra wild card spot to each conference, and giving the top seed in each conference a first round bye. Fans can agree that this new format offered an exciting wild card weekend with six games featuring matchups like Browns vs Steelers or AFC 2019 divisional round rematch Titans vs Ravens. This playoff bracket should be here to stay, as it gave us a championship round featuring 4 of the league’s premier quarterbacks. The first being Tom Brady vs. Aaron Rodgers in a matchup of two of the greatest quarterbacks of all time, following the matchup between Josh Allen vs. Patrick Mahomes, a battle between two quarterbacks who will dominate the league in the coming years. 

     The Buccaneers faced off against the Packers in the first game this past Sunday and shocked the top seed in the NFC in a 31-26 win where Rodgers was sacked 5 times by the Bucs defense. According to ESPN.com, Brady will move on to his 10th Super Bowl appearance, with a chance to win his 6th title. The red-hot Bills faced off against the reigning Super Bowl Champion Chiefs, and after a 9-0 start to the Bills, the Chiefs found their groove, outscoring Kansas City 38-15 the rest of the game, capping off a 38-24 win. According to cbs.sports, this was the Bills first AFC title game since beating the Chiefs in 1994. 

     This year’s Super Bowl will now be the first time that a home team will be competing at the event in their home stadium, in a season where there are a limited number of fans allowed inside. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers will be playing the Kansas City Chiefs at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa Bay on February 7th for Super Bowl LV. According to ESPN’s Football Power Index, the Chiefs have a 52.1% likelihood to win the game. With a game featuring one of the most successful sports figures of all time, Tom Brady, and his potential successor in Patrick Mahomes, Super Bowl LV will definitely be one of the more memorable Super Bowls in history.
