On Thursday, March 21st Parkland High School held its yearly career fair in the gymnasium. This event is held every year to give students an opportunity to give themselves a head start in beginning their careers. The event hosts numerous companies, programs, and organizations that open their doors to any students willing to pursue a career in their field. The majority of students who attend the event are juniors and seniors as they are the closest to graduating high school and will soon be looking to start their career paths.
The career fair offered a multitude of programs for students to join and get started in. Students could join these programs if they were looking for a summer job, organization internships, or the start of a career that they wish to pursue. Jobs and internships that were available were mostly local groups such as Coca-Cola Park or St. Luke’s medical programs. With short-term options available, there were also information tables set up for long-term career options such as the armed forces. Each branch of the military, as well as some first responder groups, had representatives attend the career fair. Options such as these appeared to be more popular among other programs as they proved to be useful in the future by helping students apply for colleges and future jobs, as well as help people develop important life skills.
In the weeks leading up to the career fair, many students spent time organizing their resumes in order to give as much information as possible to the organizations that they signed up for. The careers shown at the fair were also great opportunities to add information to their resume for future careers. The career fair is a great way for students to get started on entering the workforce or beginning the pursuit of a career they are interested in. It is important for students to attend the career fair in the future in order to help them shape their lives during and after high school.
