In a day and age where people can find out everything about a person’s life with only the touch of a button, people must constantly be cautious of what they say or do, as it can easily be taken out of context and put the person in a bad light. However, there has recently been a lot of discourse surrounding the lack of respect for individual privacy. Chappell Roan is one such person who has experienced much of this disrespect firsthand.

Chappell recently came to fame with hit songs like “HOT TO GO!” and “Good Luck Babe,” but with her newfound stardom, has had to become accustomed to the world of celebrities and paparazzi. Chappell has spoken out multiple times about how people constantly overstep boundaries and fail to respect her personal space, some notable occasions being when people have shown up to her hotel rooms as well as her family’s homes. It goes without saying that this sort of behavior completely lacks basic human decency and respect. She was also criticized for yelling at a paparazzo after they complained and cursed at her at the VMAs.

Though she has received much criticism, many people have spoken about their support for Chappell. Her supporters say the behavior toward her and other celebrities would not be done to a regular person, so it should not be done to them either; privacy is a right and should be respected whether the person is famous or not.
