On February 9th, 2025, the Philadelphia Eagles defeated the Kansas City Chiefs 40-22 in Super Bowl LIX. Many players on the Eagles had award-worthy performances that deserve recognition.
Super Bowl MVP: Jalen Hurts
Hurts had one of the best games of his career this Super Bowl. Hurts passed for 221 yards and 2 Touchdowns, while rushing for 72 yards and 1 touchdown. He broke his own record for the most rushing yards by a quarterback in the Super Bowl with 72 rushing yards.
Co-Super Bowl MVPs: The Entire Eagles Defense
The Eagles defense dominated the Kansas City Chiefs offense, sacking Patrick Mahomes six times, recording two interceptions, and a forced fumble. The score was 40-6 until the backups entered the game.
Vintage Performance Award: Avonte Maddox
Maddox was one of the best nickelbacks in the league for several seasons, but always struggled with injuries. Maddox had a key fourth down pass deflection to help seal the game for the Eagles.
Made My Father Proud Award: Jeremiah Trotter Jr.
Jeremiah Trotter starred for the Eagles for many years in the late 1990s and early 2000s. His son, Jeremiah Trotter Jr., was able to accomplish something in his rookie year his father was never able to do: win a Super Bowl with the Philadelphia Eagles.
Birthday Boy Award; Saquon Barkley and Cooper DeJean
On top of the Super Bowl victory, both Saquon Barkley and Cooper DeJean had other reasons to celebrate: It was their birthday! Barkley rushed for 57 yards and set the all-time single season rushing yard record (regular season + playoffs), while DeJean returned an interception for a touchdown.
Timmy Smith Award: Cooper DeJean
The Timmy Smith award goes to a player who’s production in the Super Bowl exceeds their career production. DeJean’s first career interception was his pick 6.
Redemption Award: Nick Sirianni
After the Eagles had a historic collapse last season, Nick Sirianni entered the season on the hot seat. However, this Super Bowl victory has secured his job and restored the fanbase’s confidence in him.
Elder’s Ring Award: Brandon Graham
Graham has played the most games in Philadelphia Eagles franchise history, with 206. After suffering a torn triceps during the regular season, his season (and career) was thought to be finished. However, Graham was able to return for the Super Bowl, and helped the Eagles earn another ring.
Dr. Seuss Award: A.J. Brown
Brown, who went viral in the wild card round after being reading a book on the bench, repeated that performance tonight.
The Land Down Under Award: Jordan Mailata
Mailata, who is one of the best offensive lineman in football, became the first Australian to win a Super Bowl ring.
Lehigh Valley Proud Award: Saquon Barkley and Jahan Dotson
The Lehigh Valley has two new Super Bowl champions this year. Saquon Barkley attended Whitehall High School, and Jahan Dotson attended Nazareth High School.
Odd One Out Award: Matt Pryor
Every member of the 2018 Eagles draft class received a ring, except for one: Matt Pryor, who is currently an offensive lineman for the Chicago Bears.
