The time of year has come where fall athletes begin to show just how good their teams can be. When looking at each roster, there’s many ways to examine who’s going to have the best season of the bunch. With that being said, there are a couple key components a team must have to be great. First of all, the team must have shown in the past that they can compete at the highest level, whether that’s a district title or a dominant regular season. And secondly, it must have not just star power or depth, but a mixture of both. A team cannot win without a star, or multiple, leading the way for the team, however no one can win by themselves. With all that being said, let’s take a look at three teams with a high chance to be great this season.
- Football:
Parkland’s football team has always been one to not disappoint. With multiple deep runs in state competition and an impressive 11-3 record last year, the football team is sure to be in for another great season. While they are still younger team with juniors at both quarterback and running back, their star running back TJ Lawrence didn’t let that hold him back last year as he made the 6A All-State Team for his play on both sides of the ball. With the talent they have on their roster, anything less than a district title would be a surprise.
- Boy’s XC:
The boy’s XC team had a bit of a disappointing end to last season as after an undefeated regular season and EPC title, they lost to both Nazareth and Emmaus in districts to not qualify for states. With that being said, the team looks to be even stronger this year after getting back star runner, Collin Mcguigan, who should help push the team over the edge to a likely district title and state appearance.
- Girl’s Tennis
The girl’s tennis team has arguably the most talent out of all of the fall sports. They finished last season with a 20-1 record and are reigning district title holders. Their star player Lexie Warsing should continue to help them be successful going into her senior year as she has held the title of the No. 1 player in the district since her sophomore year. With much of their team returning, the team could not only get back to states, but also make an even deeper run than last year.
