While the 79 year old American singer-songwriter is known for her hit, “9-t0-5”, she has recently postponed her upcoming December 2025 shows in Las Vegas to September 2026 due to health issues. This news has caused many of her dedicated fans to have concern. Another cause for concern amongst her fans is that her sister Freida had asked her fans to pray for her.
However, Dolly Parton had updated her fans, saying that she appreciated the prayers but that she was okay. The singer also admitted that she had not been taking the best care of herself since her husband Carl Thomas Dean died this March after almost 60 years of marriage.
The beloved country artist received an outpouring of prayers and support after people learned of her health issues. With fellow country star Reba McEntire sending her a heartfelt message. Regarding McEntire, Parton has slammed the AI generated photos that have depicted McEntire visiting her at her grave, with McEntire also condemning the photos and all others depicting Parton as deceased.
Dolly Parton’s official diagnosis is kidney stones and a subsequent infection. However, she is recovering with grit and humor, with her posting on her social media that she isn’t dead quite yet.
PHS psychology teacher Mrs. Kautzmann said, “I’m happy to hear she is ok as we’ve lost a lot of good people this year like Jane Goodall. Dolly Parton is a very creative songwriter who opened up a lot of doors for women.”
Dead or not, Parton has left an incredible legacy with her winning 11 Grammys, a primetime Emmy award, and being inducted into the Country and Rock & Roll Halls of fame. She also is a noted philanthropist, with her giving millions of dollars to various charities during her career. She is also an ardent supporter of childhood literacy and education. She founded the Imagination Library, which sends young children books at no cost. The Imagination Library has donated over 50 million books to children in the United States, Canada, and the United Kingdom. While the singer has no children, her impact on the new generation is undeniable.
