All thirty Major League teams fight for 8 long months, just to get a chance to make it to the playoffs. This year the Toronto Blue Jays took up the LA Dodgers in a seven games series.
Game one of the 2025 world series started off with a big bang, The Toronto Blue Jays crushed The Dodgers 11-4. The game was tied up until the 6th inning where the Blue Jays racked in 9 runs, while the Dodgers slacked.
Game two the Dodgers retaliated and brought home a win of 5-1. The true winner of this game though was Yoshinobu Yamamoto, who retired the last 20 batters he faced, struck out 8 of them, and only allowed 4 hits. Will Smith also broke the tie in the 7th by homering and led the team to scoring 4 more runs in the next two innings.
The third game of the series lasted the amount of two. It is now in history books tied as the second longest World Series game, lasting 18 innings and six hours and 39 minutes. But in the end of it all Freddie Freeman launched a walk off homer in the bottom of the 18th giving the game to the Dodgers.
The Blue Jays rebounded in the fourth game to bring home a win of 6-2. A key moment for the Jays was their 3rd hitter, Vladimir Guerrero Jr., rocketing a two run homer setting a new franchise record for the most home runs in postseason.But the Dodgers number one pitcher Ohtani put up a fight for the first six innings but his squad couldn’t finish the game for him.
Game five, the Jays retook the lead in a not so close game of 6-1. They started off the energy on a string note, with their lead off hitter launching a hit out the stadium and and only a few more pitches later Vladdy shot one out as well. The Jays also took a risk with their rookie Trey Yesavage, but he performed nowhere below fantastic, racking in 12 strikeouts in a span of seven innings.
To keep the fans on the edge of their seats, the Dodgers beat the Blue Jays under great pressure, with the score 3-1. All the runs for the game were scored in the third inning. With the Dodgers bringing in three and Toronto only getting one. But overall the defences stood their ground after that.
Last but not least, the final game took place in Canada with high pressure upon both teams. The game lasted 11 innings. Right in the ninth inning LA was able to tie it up, leading to extra innings. Bats were quiet until Dodgers catcher Will Smith hit the go ahead homer in the top of the ninth. The Jays had a chance to redeem themselves but had fallen short, to a double play concluding the 2025 season.
Yoshinobu Yamamoto won MVP of the world series due to his impeccable pitching and hard work. This year will definitely be one not forgotten.
