Liberty comes out on top in the first round of EPC playoffs

Parkland has had great success in many sports this year. For example, in both basketball and volleyball, Parkland was able to compete in the state championship game. In the past, baseball has had similar results in which they have made it to states multiple times. This year the baseball team seemed to be destined for another great season as they finished second in the conference just one game behind Emmaus. However, their regular season success didn’t quite translate to the playoffs.

In the first round of the EPC playoffs, Parkland faced off against Liberty. This was a new matchup for them as they did not play a single game against them in the whole regular season. Most people watching expected a win out of Parkland as the first round has never proved to be a problem in the past. But to the surprise of many, Liberty took control right away scoring 4 runs in just the 3rd inning alone. Parkland tried to fight back towards the end of the game scoring 2 runs of their own in the 7th, but it was too late. Liberty took down Parkland with ease as they won the game with a final score of 6-2.

This was obviously not the result that any Parkland fan or player had hoped for or thought was going to happen, but one bad game had been all they needed to put an end to their season. However, even with the disappointing end to the year, Parkland should be in a good spot to come back next year and be better than ever. Throughout the year the team showed glimpses of what their true potential could be on both sides of the field with talented pitching, fielding, and batting. So instead of asking what went wrong, let’s look at the bright side and ask what’s to come.
