It’s that time of year! Seniors are getting their looks together for the big night, prom! People are preparing how they’re going to do their hair, what kind of makeup to put on, what color to paint their nails, what shoes to wear, and most importantly… THE DRESS. Finding the perfect prom dress can be stressful and feel impossible with so many options like color, style, sleeves, glitter or no glitter, and there are so many different stores to visit.
The Lehigh Valley itself has so many stores to find the prom dress of your dreams. Just within the Lehigh Valley mall, there are plenty of stores to find a dress at for the people who don’t want ot go too far. Firstly, there’s Windsor. Windsor is most commonly known for their homecoming and prom dresses, or overall more formal wear, so it’s no surprise that people find their prom dresses here. However, Windsor seems to keep their selections small and frequently change the styles they have rather than just having all different kinds of dresses all at once, so it may make it hard to find something you absolutely love. More surprisingly, Macy’s has a good selection of prom dresses along with the countless other types of merchandise that they sell. Senior Campbell Berghold got her dress from Macy’s. She said, “I got it at the Macy’s in the mall and I found it pretty easily. I tried on like 10 different ones and I was stuck between a dark green and the red one which is what I ended up getting.” (12) Similarly to Macy’s, Boscovs also has a good variety of prom dresses this year and the best part is that they aren’t super expensive!
For the people dedicated enough to go on a dress-finding journey, there are places all over. Pretty much anywhere you go, whether it’s a mall, a boutique, or an online shop, you’ll be able to find a prom dress. Still not sure where to look? Well, many students went out to the King of Prussia mall to look at stores like Formals XO or VIP Fashion. Others went even further, like out to a boutique in New Jersey. Others did the exact opposite and ordered their dress online from sites like Begging Boutique, Lulus, and, believe it or not… Amazon. Online shopping for a dress opens up such a wide variety of options, styles, colors, and pretty much anything else you could possibly want in a dress. However, most people who ordered their dress online said they needed to get adjustments because it didn’t fit in certain places, and there was no way of knowing that ahead of time because they didn’t try it on.
No matter where you’re dress comes from this year, make sure it makes you feel like the most beautiful version of yourself, whatever that may be. Your dress is YOUR dress and should make you feel happy when you put it on. So, lace up those heels, touch up the makeup, zip up the dress, and get ready to have an amazing night at prom!
