Renowned Broadway actor Leslie Odom Jr. returned to his most iconic role as Aaron Burr in Hamilton, causing a major stir in the musical theater world. He took nearly a decade long break after being a part of this Broadway production from its on-Broadway premiere on August 6, 2015 to his final performance for the time being on July 9, 2016. His recent run spanned from September 9, 2025 to November 26, 2025. During this time period, the show’s revenue increased from approximately $2 million per show to around $3-4 million, according to Playbill.
In a previous statement, Odom Jr. has claimed that returning to Hamilton, especially around the ten year anniversary of the show, has been extremely memorable and meaningful to him.

The actor has also claimed that while he used to fuel his performances with anger, his acting now comes from a place of love. This change is evident to viewers in the ways he adds a comedic tone to various lines and allows his personality to come through in emotional songs such as “Dear Theodosia” and “Wait for It”. In addition, where there used to be a certain harshness to his voice alluding to his character’s emotions of Hamilton himself, there is now a softer, more melodic element, possibly expressing admiration rather than jealousy.
November 18, 2025 was a particularly spectacular show. Not only was Leslie Odom Jr. there in all his glory, but so was Lin Manuel Miranda, the creator of Hamilton and the original actor taking on the character Alexander Hamilton. During an announcement for the Broadway Cares fundraising event, one of the cast members announced that a $500 donation would earn a Hamilton poster signed by Miranda himself… and then out he walked! Although he was not performing, his surprise on-stage appearance after the show utterly shocked the audience.
Miranda addressed the audience by first elaborating on the fundraising event, and then segwayed into an exciting announcement: Hamilton is coming to schools! A teen version of the show is currently in the works, and is expected to be available to high schools starting in 2028.
Overall, the past few months have been extremely exhilarating for all of Hamilton’s fanbase.
